Johnathan Song, DPT Student

What appealed to me about the field of physical therapy was the magnitude of impact you can make on someone’s life by improving their pain and function, and the pre-requisite of always wanting to learn more in order to become great at what you do.

Why did you decide to enter the field of Physical Therapy?

What appealed to me about the field of physical therapy was the magnitude of impact you can make on someone’s life by improving their pain and function, and the pre-requisite of always wanting to learn more in order to become great at what you do.

What is your background?

I am currently a 3rd year PT student at the University at Buffalo with an undergraduate degree in exercise science. I also compete in powerlifting and have built up a client base via social media as an online powerlifting coach.

What is your specialty/niche when it comes to being a future physical therapist?

My specialty/niche has always been an interest in biomechanics. My own bias as a powerlifter is that I love analyzing movement and finding out how we can become more efficient in a given task.

What are you most looking forward to joining the rehab 2 perform team?

I’m really looking forward to being able to learn from therapists who are very dialed in and methodical in their treatment of patients.

What are your plans on trying to engage and connect with the community?

I’ve really found Instagram to be a great resource for Physical Therapists to broadcast their ideas to a larger audience. It’s a way that I’ve come across a lot of great therapists and also how I intend to engage and connect with the community in the future.
