GUIDING YOU 2 PERFORM NOW, & FOR LIFE!

As industry leaders in combining the best of physical therapy and fitness, our pelvic health therapists offer a fitness-forward approach to allow our patients to take an ACTIVE role in their healing.

While we incorporate the traditional hands-on modalities of pelvic health physical therapy, our focus is healing pelvic concerns through movement and exercise. If you are active, competitive, or looking to become more active - we have a tailored exercise program for you.

We believe pelvic floor healing happens in the gym!

Pelvic floor physical therapy can address a wide range of symptoms and diagnoses.

Some of the more common ones we treat include:

  • Pregnancy → safe exercise programs, labor and delivery prep, pubic symphysis dysfunction, hip/low back pain, SI joint pain
  • Postpartum → pelvic or tailbone pain, incontinence, c-section recovery, dyspareunia,  posture with feeding, lifting and carrying mechanics, return to run or exercise
  • Urinary incontinence
  • Constipation
  • Prolapse
  • Endometriosis, adenomyosis and post-excision surgery
  • Peri and Menopause related concerns
  • Pelvic pain and pudendal neuralgia
  • Men's Health

WHAT 2 EXPECT AT MY FIRST PELVIC HEALTH APPOINTMENT

At your first appointment your physical therapist will take a detailed subjective and medical history of your concerns. They will then do an assessment that may include a posture and movement assessment, strength testing, range of motion testing, and pelvic floor muscle assessment. The assessment may involve assessing other pelvic structures, hip, core or low back. Your therapist will also create an individualized plan of care and coach you through a series of exercises.

WHAT IS A PELVIC FLOOR MUSCLES ASSESSMENT?

A pelvic floor muscle assessment is nothing like a traditional gynecological exam. Your physical therapist may perform a combination of external observation and internal vaginal or rectal pelvic floor muscle testing. This allows us to determine the state of your pelvic floor muscles (think: too tight or too weak) and come up with a plan. As always, you decide with your physical therapist your comfort level for internal work.

PREGNANCY

Our Physical Therapists will help alleviate and address: pelvic pain, pubic symphysis pain /SPD, sciatica, low back pain, hip pain, and any other pain or activity limitations which may worsen or arise during pregnancy.

Through instruction and proper education our staff will provide appropriate exercise programs that are suitable for all trimesters, strategies to prepare for delivery, and the empowerment to stay active and healthy during the pregnancy!

POSTPARTUM

After birth (appropriate for mothers at least 2 weeks postpartum), our dedicated team will create a customized plan to support your healing and restore optimal movement. We will assess your posture, help rebuild core and pelvic floor strength, and address any new or lingering pain—including low back, hip, neck, wrist, or shoulder discomfort often associated with breastfeeding. Our approach also includes treatment for incontinence, constipation, pelvic pain, and diastasis recti.

At R2P, we recognize that postpartum is a lifelong journey. Whether you are newly postpartum or years beyond childbirth, our personalized care will provide the education, treatment, and exercise program tailored to your needs and goals—so you can be ready 2 perform in every stage of motherhood!

PELVIC FLOOR DYSFUNCTION

Our pelvic health physical therapists are trained to evaluate and treat pelvic floor dysfunction. Pelvic floor dysfunction can result in unwanted symptoms including pain, incontinence, weakness, and feeling of heaviness in the abdomen and pelvis.

Through an extensive initial evaluation, both internal and external pelvic structures will be examined to create a personalized program to focus on strengthening, controlling and building endurance of your pelvic muscles.

Treatment may include:

  • Core, hip, and low back strengthening
  • Pelvic and hip stability
  • Internal and external soft tissue & trigger point
  • Downtraining of pelvic musculature
  • Postural correction
  • Education on proper breathing techniques
  • Education on bowel and bladder habits
