Meet Conor! New PT in Frederick

Why did you want to become involved in physical therapy?

I became interested in physical therapy my senior year of high school, like many therapists, I was a patient after several sports injuries. Prior to my own rehabilitation I had no interest in health care, but I had a great experience with my physical therapist. After having such a productive and enjoyable time in physical therapy, I decided to pursue it as a career and help others in similar situations.

What is your background?

My degrees are in Kinesiology from the University of Maryland, College park and a Doctorate of Physical therapy from the University of Maryland, Baltimore. My clinical background is in outpatient orthopedics and sports medicine. I have had the opportunity to work with a large variety of patients in these settings and really enjoy being a part of patients recovery to continue to pursue an active life.

What is your specialty or niche when it comes to physical therapy?

I believe my specialty as a therapist is being able to move patients through the rehabilitation process with a great amount of education and empowerment. I believe that patients need to understand their recovery to fully benefit from the process. A niche group that I enjoy treating is rock climbers, my initial interest started when I was recovering from my own climbing injury. Due to the unique demands of the sport and my own aspirations of climbing injury free I was naturally drawn to learn more about rock climbing injuries.

What are you most looking forward to in joining the Rehab 2 Perform team?

I’m most interested in joining Rehab 2 Perform to be a part of a company that is leading the way for better outpatient rehabilitation for the active patient. The R2P team is full of extremely skilled and motivated clinicians that are working in an environment to improve their clinical outcomes. I’m looking forward to joining this team and learning from the other therapists.

What are your plans on trying to engage and connect with the community?

As a rock climber and trail runner I plan to engage with these groups in the community by having injury prevention and performance enhancement workshops so I can become a local resource for athletes.
