Dr. Katie joins in Frederick
Why did you want to become involved in physical therapy?
My first exposure to the rehab world was during high school going through my own physical therapy after surgery from a sports related injury. I was always interested in health and wellness growing up, and my own experience with physical therapy set the stage for pursuing my own career as a PT.
What is your background?
I grew up in the Northern VA area and went on to earn a B.S. in Human Foods, Nutrition, and Exercise at Virginia Tech. There I was able to expand my knowledge giving me a more holistic background for becoming a healthcare provider. I went on to earn my Doctorate of Physical Therapy at Shenandoah University. Since graduating from PT school, I had the opportunity to be at an outpatient sports medicine facility where I was able to treat a wide variety of patients from different populations and backgrounds. Most recently, I moved to Frederick and am very excited to be a part of and serve this community.
What is your specialty or niche when it comes to physical therapy?
I enjoy and take pride in being able to connect with patient’s of all populations and backgrounds. My passion is helping those getting back to what they love whether that be team sports, running their local 5K, or keeping up with their grandkids.
What are you most looking forward to in joining the Rehab 2 Perform team?
I am most excited about being around like minded and passionate providers whose focus is an active approach to rehab.
What are your plans on trying to engage and connect with the community?
I am excited for all the opportunities R2P has in supporting the community around us. I hope to attend fitness related events in the Frederick area and be able to interact and support our community outside of the clinic.
