Meet Mason! New to R2P6

Why did you want to become involved in physical therapy?

Finding a love of the weight room as well as dealing with numerous injuries as a collegiate football player inspired me to pursue physical therapy. I saw how performance training and rehabilitation could go hand in hand as well as how much of a positive impact they could have on athletes, active individuals and individuals looking to improve their overall health.

What is your background?

I grew up in Asheville, North Carolina and played football, basketball and soccer throughout my youth. I developed a passion for performance training as a Division 1 athlete. This passion led me to work as an intern coach in the strength and conditioning department at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for three years. During my time as a coach, I gained valuable experience coaching a variety of athletes across multiple sports through their rehabilitation and performance goals. I remained involved in coaching throughout graduate school and truly believe that individuals don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care!

What is your specialty or niche when it comes to physical therapy?

I love assisting athletes in reaching their high-performance goals. However, my favorite population to work with are true beginners just starting their exercise journey, as it provides an opportunity to cultivate a positive and lasting experience with physical activity and weight training.

What are you most looking forward to in joining the Rehab 2 Perform team?

I am pumped to join a team of passionate individuals looking to push healthcare in a positive direction. I am excited to participate in the dialogue around updating biases, navigating uncertainty and advancing patient care.

What are your plans on trying to engage and connect with the community?

I plan to embrace the diverse group of individuals in the Howard and surrounding county communities. Above all else, I want to meet individuals where they are at and ensure that they feel heard, respected and valued. I look forward to getting involved in local athletics and community gyms as well as within the local school systems to promote physical activity and foster movement optimism.
