It is that time of year again… SCHOOL is BACK! This transition can be overwhelming and making time for nutrition can be rough. I have listed some of my favorite products and websites below to help you get your kids back to school in a healthy way that will also support you and your health goals as well!

MY FAVORITE “BACK TO SCHOOL” SNACKS
- My favorite snack size protein bar (that both kids and adults will love) is The Perfect Bar. This bar has really healthy ingredients and tastes delicious. The balance of protein and healthy fat will help you feel full and satisfied for hours to come. Check out the different flavors HERE
- Mixed Nuts are one of my favorite snacks but they can be expensive. Ordering in bulk helps keep the price down. This is a great website to order a wide variety of nuts that the whole family will enjoy. They also sell dried fruits, pretzels and other ingredients that will make a healthy and delicious trail mix! - Fresh fruit (apples and pears are quickly coming into season). I suggest pairing these fresh fruits with a protein like ½ cup of cottage cheese or a healthy fat like 1-2 tablespoons of natural peanut butter or a cheese stick.
- It can always be a challenge to get vegetables into kids (and adults for that matter) but try and add fun things to vegetables like celery & peanut butter, carrots and hummus or cucumbers with cream cheese. These fiber heavy foods provide your family with tons of nutrition along with keeping them healthy and happy throughout the day!

MEAL PREP PRODUCTS
- I use mason jars ALL the time. Mason jars are the perfect vehicle for meal prepping everything from overnight oats, to homemade dressings to entree garden and pasta salads. I would stock up on these to make meal prepping easy AND picture perfect!

- I have used a bento box to pack my son’s lunch for over a year now. He really enjoys the variety of different foods and also the ability to change out the magnets and have a “different” lunch box every day. Bento boxes are fun for adults too and assist you with creating healthier versions of “lunchables”. Below is the bento box I use and I highly recommend this brand!

- Swell water bottles definitely had a “moment” last year but their salad bowl is my favorite product that they make. With a built-in compartment for dressing and utensils and a sleek and clean design, these salad bowls will make you want to take salads to work each day!

- I love the ease of squeeze packs for kids but I was unable to find a high protein, low sugar yogurt option for my son so I used reusable yogurt squeeze packs. This particular brand, WeeSprout, was super easy to clean and dry. I used plain Greek yogurt and sweetened it with a bit of strawberry jelly or I blended plain Greek yogurt with fresh fruit. My son loved them! I would recommend making a big batch, freezing them and then adding them to the lunch box so they will be thawed by lunch time!
