Big Benefits of Broccoli

broccoli for kids. nutrition

Broccoli is in season during the fall months so now is the time to enjoy it!

Broccoli is extremely nutrient dense and packs a punch of fiber, vitamins and minerals. 1 cup contains 2.5g of fiber and covers 135% of the recommended vitamin C one needs in a day. Broccoli contains a high amount of glucoraphanin which is a substrate that can be converted into sulforaphane, a powerful antioxidant that has been correlated with overall health and prevention of different chronic diseases. It can also aid in digestion and help prevent constipation.

The great thing about broccoli is it can be eaten raw or cooked and cooking can be steaming, roasting or air-frying. This quick and simple vegetable also tends to be embraced by children as well as adults. Below I found one of my family-favorite recipes, Chicken and Broccoli Casserole, which can help you cook once and enjoy the broccoli for days to come. I hope you enjoy this bright, crisp delicious cruciferous vegetable!
