Single Leg Triple Hop for Distance

The single leg triple hop for distance is a continuous plyometric movement that evaluates single leg power, movement control, and confidence.  It is commonly used as part of a return to sport test battery to assess performance between legs.

This movement is important as it requires the subject to quickly absorb and produce force in a continuous manner replicating the demands of many sports.

Begin by standing on one leg. Once balanced, jump forward three times consecutively on the same leg ensuring that you land the third jump in a balanced and controlled manner.

While this test does not evaluate all aspects of successful return to sport, those that pass hop testing in conjunction with other tests in the test battery typically see more successful return to sport.
