Dr. Ken Walrond, DPT, CSCS

Performance Physical Therapist

Ken, lifelong sports enthusiast and DPT, played college baseball, overcame injuries, and now helps athletes and others build strength and return to activity.

Ken can’t remember a time when he wasn’t infatuated with sports. By middle school a passion for performance training had also developed. You could find 13-year-old Ken making agility ladders out of rope and duct tape or building plyo boxes out of scrap wood he found in the garage. Ken’s first love was baseball, and after finishing his high school career he went on to play collegiately at Mercyhurst University.

Ken earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Maryland-Baltimore. During grad school he sustained several major orthopedic injuries while playing rec sports. He got to live what he was learning, navigating surgeries and rehab journeys, going from zero to back on the field and court.

Since graduation Ken has had the opportunity to work with a wide array of active people. He’s guided professional athletes back to elite competition. He’s helped grandparents train their bodies to keep up with grandkids. Regardless of the patient in front of him, he finds sacred the role he plays: helping people build strong, capable bodies that allow them to live their fullest, most meaningful lives.

Ken remains active and continues to find great joy in sports. You might find him at the YMCA looking for a game of HORSE or canoeing down the Monocacy River. He is a proud husband to his wife Michele and father to his daughter Gia.
