Dr. Kira Zarzuela, DPT, SCS, MS
Performance Physical Therapist
Dr. Kira grew up in Ellicott City, MD and was a multi-sport athlete, having played tennis, ran track, and danced throughout her youth and high school years. While in high school, Kira began shadowing her athletic trainers at Archbishop Spalding High School, leading her to pursue the field of sports medicine and eventually physical therapy.
Kira earned her B.S. in Kinesiology from the University of Maryland, College Park where she also served as an intern with the DI men’s lacrosse team, men’s and women’s soccer teams, women’s tennis team, and men’s and women’s track and field teams. Following this, she obtained her Doctorate in Physical Therapy and M.S. in Clinical Anatomy and Health Sciences from the University of Delaware. Her previous experiences shadowing her high school ATs and interning with UMD athletics inspired her to pursue residency with Delaware to further specialize in sports physical therapy, which she completed Spring 2024. There she continued to gain experience in the clinic, in the training rooms, and on the sidelines of DI men’s and women’s soccer, DI men’s ice hockey, and rugby in injury management and performance optimization.
Kira has experience in the sports and orthopedic realm, working with individuals of all ages and backgrounds, including high school and collegiate athletes. She is passionate about helping active individuals return to the activities they love at a better level than they were previously.
