DR. SAMANTHA CURBELO, DPT
Sports Resident / Performance Physical Therapist
Sam was born and raised in Bowie, MD. Sam has danced since she was 3 years old and played competitive lacrosse through high school. Following high school at Archbishop Spalding, Sam graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park with a Bachelor of Science in Public Health Science. She continued her love of dance serving in leadership roles as Creative Director and President of the UnBound Dance Team. She also served on the Morale committee of Terp Thon working with kids from Children’s National Medical Center. She continued to perform and choreograph for local theatre groups like The Talent Machine Company and Annapolis Summer Garden theatre. Through various injuries from dance, Sam was introduced to Physical Therapy and worked with a therapist who as a former professional ballet dancer understood the demands of dance and she helped Sam achieve her goal of getting back to dance. Sam was inspired to pursue physical therapy with desire to not only treat injuries but to focus on proper training and injury prevention.
Following undergrad, Sam attended the University of Delaware where she received her Master’s in Clinical Health Science and Anatomy and her Doctorate in Physical Therapy. At UD, she had the opportunity to work with and learn from many leaders in ACL and Achilles Tendon research. One of her clinical experiences was at a sports performance clinic where she treated high level athletes of various backgrounds. Being able to work in an environment that fostered care for athletes is what led her to doing a sports residency and pursuing her sports certification. Sam is excited to begin her experience at Rehab 2 Perform™ and work with some great patients. Sam enjoys dancing, traveling, hiking, and spending time with her two goldendoodles, Shiloh and Maui.
