A screen that has stood the tests of time used to determine whether an athlete or active adult has enough forward bending mobility to easily get into positions needed for deadlifts, cleans or snatches from the floor, as well as picking up objects and little humans from the floor!
The ability to check this box often allows us to have a buffer or increased window of freedom beyond what may be required for any of the activities above, allowing us to get into the positions that we need to without strain.
This is a great standard to shoot for if you want to prioritize:
• Healthspan
• Picking Up Anything or Anyone from the Ground
• Deadlift, Clean or Snatch
Our Standards
Able to perform without knees bending
P.S. More isn’t always more, meaning palms to the floor isn’t necessarily what you should shoot for. This level of mobility is beyond the norms and may be needed for sport-specific movements.
