Nathan Stecker - Germantown Intern
Meet Nathan Stecker, an intern in Germantown who is exploring the world of Physical Therapy after completing undergrad at NC State!
I grew up in Clarksburg, developing a passion for anatomy during high school that drove me to pursue a undergraduate degree in a biological field. I recently graduated from North Carolina State University with a B.S. in biomedical engineering, and am returning home to Maryland to explore PT. A lifelong sports participant, I enjoy playing soccer, basketball, and football with friends. When I’m not on the court/field, I like to read and spend time with family.
What excites you about potentially entering the field of Physical Therapy?
For me, the most exciting aspect about physical therapy would be the impact I can have on someone’s life. As those I care about get older and more prone to injury, I see how even small problems can develop into a lifelong struggle. From veteran runners who succumb to leg pain to young athletes who never reach their potential, I want to help people get back to doing the things they love. Being able to help rehabilitate injuries - or even prevent them - would allow my patients to maintain their freedom; to live without injuries dictating their choices.
What have you enjoyed the most about interning at Rehab 2 Perform? And what are you looking forward to the most?
So far, the best part about my intern experience has been the people. The therapists at R2P are extremely knowledgeable, and share their expertise readily. The staff is very inclusive, making me feel welcome from the first day. The patients have also been amazing, and talking to them has given me insights into the field I would’ve missed without them. I look forward to learning as much as I can from both the staff and the patients so that in the future I can provide the best care possible.
What are you plans for the future and do you plan to be in the health and wellness field?
For the next year, I plan to explore the different areas and specialties in the therapy field before obtaining graduate education. After getting a feel for my interests, I intend to enroll in a graduate school to earn my DPT before entering the practice.
