Meet Samuel 'Kaipo' Sotelo, DPT Student

Why did you decide to enter the field of Physical Therapy?

I want to be at the forefront of innovation for humankind. I believe PT is in a unique position to expand its role in the healthcare field. I believe that technology and PT can integrate very well and that our scope will help improve the lives of many people. I want to be a part of that.

What is your background?

I was born in the Philippines, but raised on the island of Guam to a hard-working father and a caring mother. I observed my parents working hard every day to give me the life and opportunity that I currently enjoy, so I made it a point to one day do the same for them.

What is your specialty/niche when it comes to being a future physical therapist?

I want to be an expert in two fields: Explosive Training and AeroSpace Rehab.

What are you most looking forward to joining the Rehab 2 Perform team?

Learning from the clinician and picking their brains. The clinic has a reputation that precedes it and a clear-cut curriculum and goals which is rare to find in a clinic. I am so excited to get to be part of this team.

What are your plans on trying to engage and connect with the community?

Within the clinic, I want to be a contributing member of the team at large. Outside of the clinic, I want to get involved with local volleyball tournaments and pick-up. I also enjoy food, and love cooking meals for groups of people to gather around and enjoy together.
