WHAT IS IASTM?

WHAT IS IASTM (INSTRUMENT ASSISTED SOFT-TISSUE MOBILIZATION)? 

• IASTM refers to the use of a specifically crafted therapeutic tool to perform work on fascia and other connective and soft tissue.

• These tools are designed to allow for optimal pressure to be placed over a smaller surface area.

• This design reduces friction and allows for more precise work in the detection and treatment of dysfunctional areas that cannot be replicated with your fingers, hands, knuckles, or elbows.

• Using the IASTM tool on a dysfunctional area triggers an acute inflammatory response that facilitates and initiates a natural healing response.

• As the pain and symptoms are controlled through IASTM, your therapist will then take you through a corrective exercise program to address the underlying cause of the painful condition that triggered the painful response.
