Bailey Rankin was born and raised in Frederick, MD and attended Tuscarora High School where she played soccer for a few years and attempted a lacrosse career. Bailey started playing soccer when she was about 8 and played for Damascus Soccer Club and F.C. Frederick for about six years. She moved to Winchester, VA to attend Shenandoah University and lived there for four years and has now returned to Frederick. Halfway through her college career she decided to join the university’s track and field team. While she was in high school and throughout college she enjoyed sports medicine and anatomy courses.
Bailey always knew she wanted a career in rehabilitation and after she took a Sports Medicine course in high school she thought she wanted to be an Athletic Trainer. Bailey had a huge sports background and knew she wanted to stay involved with sports. Athletic Trainers and Physical Therapists were a huge part of her athletic success. She did a lot of shadowing with Physical Therapists and really loved what she saw and that lead her to pick a field in Physical Therapy. Bailey graduated from Shenandoah in May 2015 with a Bachelors in Exercise Science and a minor in Biology. She’s always dreamed of a career working with professional sports teams and athletes.
Bailey is very heavily involved in the Frederick community serving as a Girl’s on the Run head coach at Whittier Elementary School and a part-time coach for Lincoln Elementary School’s Panther Running Club. She is also a member of the Rotary Club of Carroll Creek. In her free time she also enjoys playing soccer for the co-ed leagues at FISC, attending Washington Capitals games and traveling to new places.
